Preschool Mission is to allow children to expand their individual potential through exposure to visual arts, music, dance and drama in a developmentally appropriate environment. The program is designed to provide the best possible learning atmosphere to help children develop cognitive, creative, social emotional and physical skills. Using creative curriculum, children are encouraged to develop decision making and problem solving abilities to enhance self-esteem and independence. Our goal is to prepare each child to enter kindergarten with creative and cognitive skills and a joy for learning.

A partnership with the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District and Kollage was created in 2001 to help Kollage develop a permanent space for its preschool program, and to give the children of the Nesbit Elementary School community access to quality preschool experiences. Our agreement with the school district includes provisions for priority enrollment based on residency.
Preference for enrollment will be given in the following order:
- Continuing students and their siblings,
- Children with siblings attending Nesbit Elementary School,
- Children residing within the Nesbit Elementary School Boundary,
- Children who live within the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District,
- Children who live outside the district.
Program Description
Kollage Creative Preschool is a developmental program for ages 2.0 to 5.9 years. Our arts based philosophy is dedicated to hands-on creative experiences which helps preschoolers develop self-esteem and critical thinking ability and allows them make decisions about the world around them. Children are given the opportunity to explore a variety of art experiences including paints, pastels, and ceramics. Singing, making music with rhythm instruments, dance and creative movement are all incorporated on a regular basis. Teachers are given the freedom to create curriculum to meet the needs and interests of the children and limited only by their imaginations. Within this framework of creativity, children can explore cognitive concepts using our large collection of games, puzzles and manipulatives, refine large and small motor skills and experience social and emotional growth appropriate for their age.
Kollage uses age and developmental ability to place children and has a classroom dedicated to each of the following age groups: 2.0 to 3.4 years, 3.5 to 4.4 years, and 4.5 to 5.9 years. Each classroom has a ratio of 6 to 8 children to one teacher, which gives us time to work with each child as needed. Potty training is not required.
