Kollage Water Program
A nine to ten week artist residency that promotes water awareness through visual arts, poetry, music and theatre.
The "Our Water" program combines art studies based on the California Frameworks and water conservation lessons from the Water Education Foundation's "The California Water Story".
The purpose of the program is to enhance learning about water conservation education concepts through creative as well as logical processes. Science and History lessons from "The California Water Story" are taught through art with the art form being a vehicle to carry the message of the importance of water.
A "sharing event" is held at the conclusion of the residency to showcase what the students have learned and created whether performing their interpretive dance, sharing their poetry, music or artwork. This year, Mid Peninsula will be hosting their culminating event at Notre Dame de Namur University Theater on April 30th at 7pm.
The Bay Area Water Users Association (BAWUA), in partnership with Kollage, produced a video on the program that can be used to encourage Association Members to implement the program. Kollage thanks Bay Area Water Users Association, Mid Peninsula Water District, Estero Water District and Redwood City for their support of this program.
