Music for Learning
Music education can improve self-esteem, help develop math, science and language skills and foster self-discipline and teamwork for our children. The Music for Learning Program provides music education for second through fourth grade students throughout the Redwood City School District (. For 30 weeks, children learn to read music, sing, play the recorder, and participate in rhythm and movement activities and experience music from around the world. Over the past 8 years, more than 23,000 children have experienced the joy gained from music through the Music for Learning Program . This program has had a positive impact on the children it serves. Redwood City Middle Schools and High Schools have seen increased numbers of students interested in music and students coming to the music programs with higher skill levels. They feel this is in part due to The Music for Learning Program.
The Redwood City Education Foundation, the Redwood City School District and Kollage Community School for the Arts work together to put this program together. Each year the Redwood City Education Foundation raises money for this valuable program. They need our help to keep The Music for Learning Program in our Schools! Your donation will help, please contact Orlene Chartain, President of the Redwood City Education Foundation through the Redwood City School District at 650-423-2200 for more information.
